Description: There are about 59 known species, Chamæleon vulgaris being the most famous. its body is 6 to 7 inches long, tail about 5 inches. The skin is cool to the touch and contains small grains or einences which are of a bluish-gray color in the shade. The extraordinary faculty which the chameleon possesses of changing its color, in accordance with that of the objects by which it is surrounded or its temper.
