Description: The fruid of the tropical or subtropical tree citrus medica, of the orange family, and originally native to the tropical portions of Asia. It is quite certain that lemons were unknown to the ancient Greeks and romans, and that this fruit was introduced into Spain by the Arabs about the 12th century.
