Description: Hard Times Token (unknown) US coin from 1837. Obverse has a tortoise carrying a chest marked SUB TREASURY. The inscription beneath the turtle reads - 1837 FISCAL AGENT. The surrounding inscription reads EXECUTIVE EXPERIMENT. Reverse shows the left-facing image of a mule surrounded by the inscription - I FOLLOW IN THE STEPS OF MY ILLUSTRIOUS PREDECESSOR.
