Renaissance Strap-Work Frame

This Renaissance strap-work frame was made between 1576-1577 in Germany. Made out of bronze tablets, the design usually contained foliage, palmettes, festoons and garlands of fruit, fluttering ribbons, cherub-heads are frequently added. Strap-work frame was an invention of the Renaissance.
