Faneuil Hall Exterior

Faneuil Hall, Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1742 by Boston’s wealthiest merchant, Peter Faneuil, Faneuil Hall was home to merchants, fishermen, and meat and produce sellers. Often referred to as the Cradle of Liberty, the marketplace provided a platform for the country's most famous orators and in 1764 was the location colonists first protested the Sugar Act and began using the slogan "no taxation without representation."
