Kiva Bowl with Rio Grande Glaze

Kiva Bowl with Rio Grande Glaze

This bowl from Gran Quivira was probably used for kiva ceremonies. It resembles bowls placed on modern pueblo altars to hold sacred cornmeal. Between the four terraced cloud shapes, there are symbols of a stalk of corn, a bolt of lightening with an arrowhead, a tadpole, and meandering lightning.
