Rocks Used to Protect the Seawall of Castillo de San Marcos

Rocks Used to Protect the Seawall of Castillo de San Marcos

These stones are an anthropogenic breakwater that is intended to protect the coquina seawall. Over time, the water between the rocks will fill with sediment, which will provide an area for plant growth. The fort is a National Monument, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
