The Front Porch of the Sewell Home

The Front Porch of the Sewell Home

This house is located at 503 East Fourth Street, and is known as the Sewell Home. The boxy central massing, deep eaves with modillions, hipped roof, and central dormer are all suggestive of Italianate influences, but some sources suggest an eclectic interpretation of the Craftsman style. The size of the house's footprint is enlarged by a porch, and a porte-cochère. This picture shows the stairs of the front porch. In the foreground, there is a tree with orange leaves, near the sidewalk.
