Two Gun Decks on the USS Constitution

This image shows the cannons and carronades on the gun deck, and the spar deck of the USS Constitution. The cannons, and the carronades, have tampions in their barrels. The smaller, 32-pound, carronades are on the spar deck (i.e., the upper deck); and, the larger, 24-pound, long guns are on the gun deck (i.e., the lower deck). The carronades used a heavier cannonball, but had a shorter range.
