Tracks

Multiple tracks are offered to meet the interest and skill levels of educators.

Florida Digital Educator - Integrating Technology

The Florida Digital Educator Integrating Technology track is for educators who desire an overview of digital tools and how they can be integrated into all subject areas. This track will explore digital storytelling with video, enhancing understanding and meaning through audio, images and their impact on cognition, podcasting as an engaging tool that strengthen learning, plus subject specific sessions. Participants will learn to use digital tools and put their new skills to work as they develop collaborative projects with a team of educators. This track is for all EETT Grant recipients unless they have attended this session previously.

Software Specifications for Laptops

Digital Video Editing with Final Cut Pro - (25 Seats Available)

Participants in this track will learn the Apple Final Cut Pro workspace, how to capture video, create multi-layered tracks, add transitions, titles, video and motion effects, as well as working with audio. Participants will export video files optimized for use on the web or with Apple DVD Studio Pro to create DVDs.
(This is an advanced course and participants should have a good foundation in computer use)

Cost

The Teaching and Learning Institutes meet for four days (32 hours), Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cost $500 per participant.

Lodging & Meals

UWF Dorms - Argo Hall and Pace Hall

Dorms will be available for housing during the UWF Teaching and Learning Institute. Dorm rooms have two beds and one bath. Participant must supply their own linens (towels, sheets, pillows, pillow-cases, blankets, etc.).

Cost:

* $84.00 ($21.00 per night per person) - four nights, double occupancy, total $168.00 for the room.
* $156.00 ($39.00 per night) -four nights, single occupancy

Check in will be Monday afternoon/evening and check out Friday, no partial stays.

Meals

Meal service will be available in the conference center on campus providing breakfast and lunch for those who wish to partake. Meals are not included in the dorm rate. Anyone attending the institute may use the UWF meal services.

Directions

The institute will be held on the University of West Florida campus in the University Commons Conference Center, building 22. Directions to the campus can be obtained from the UWF web site.

Parking

Parking permits will be provided the first day of the institute and you must park in Lot K in the commuters section.
