The T&L institutes provide educators the opportunity to learn about different types of educational technology, available free resources and methods of practical application in the classroom, while meeting and collaborating with other teachers throughout the state and even country.

Examples of what you may learn at the institutes are:
- Audio and Podcasting- recording, creating and editing sounds, tracks and music, as well as adding images and artwork
- Concept Mapping- supporting multiple learning styles to brainstorm and create documents from concept maps
- ICT- utilizing free online resources and learning environments such as creating wikis and using iTunes and bookmarks
- Video and Images- creating, managing and editing photos, albums, web pages, movies and videos using digital cameras and free editing software
