Charting a Course for the Digital Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Classroom

The purpose of this project is to provide professional development to teachers for the creation of high quality digital learning objects for students in an online virtual environment. Target schools are identified by the state as Correct II in Differentiated Accountability. Students will enroll in a high school semester long course (Computer Applications in Science and Engineering) developed in Moodle which is an online virtual environment created and facilitated by a content diverse group of highly qualified middle and high school math and science teachers from the target schools selected for the project. Access to computers will be provided via a computer lab that will be open before school, during lunch, and after school. Hand held mobile devices will be provided to students for check out overnight who do not have an ISP at home.

FCIT (the Florida Center for Instructional Technology) and ETC (the Educational Technology Clearinghouse) provide digital content, professional development, and technical services supporting the appropriate integration of technology into K-12 and preservice education. ©2015 Florida Center for Instructional Technology, College of Education, University of South Florida
