Our Visions of Peace



Make video to help your students learn how others see a world with peace.

Objectives

  • Students will use life experiences to express their feelings about peace both in writing and in artistic format.
  • Students will convey their visions of peace in an iMovie slide show presentation.

Procedure

  • Read, A Million Visions of Peace, Wisdom from the Friends of Old Turtle by Jennifer Garrison and Andrew Tubesing and discuss what peace means to us.
  • Students sketch picture to coincide with what peace means to them on black construction paper.
  • Use liquid glue to outline sketch.
  • Once glue is dry, fill in drawing using art chalks.
  • Students will digitally photograph their art prints.
  • Students will make a slide show presentation of their art prints and load them into iMovie.
  • Students will recite into iMovie their vision of peace when their slide appears on the screen.

Alternatives/Extensions

  • Present the movie at the school open house.
  • Submit the movie to Jim Harbin FAME Student Production competition
