Rainforest Debate



Make a presentation to convince government officials to let your group use the Rainforest.

Objectives

  • Students will discover that rainforests are home to millions of species.
  • Students will describe the components of either a food chain or a food web.
  • Students will use effective speaking strategies.
  • Students will indicate that some organisms decompose dead plants and animals into simple minerals and nutrients for use by other living things, thereby recyding matter.

Procedure

  • Students will have fully studied the Rainforest unit.
  • Students will be divided into six groups: Natives, Subsistence Farmers, Cattlemen, Lumbermen, Scientists, and Coffee Plantation Owner and Family.
  • The students will then work on a Power Point presentation within their groups to present to the acting government official.
