Sensory Details

Use Kidspiration as a tool to help your students make observations and use sensory details in their writing.

Objectives

  • Students will write observations.
  • Students will use sensory details in their writing pieces.

Procedure

  • Take the children to an area of the school in which most or all of the senses can be used, such as the cafeteria, a garden, the playground, etc.
  • In Kidspiration, open a new document and drag over symbols from the library that represent the senses. (The symbols can be found under "Science.")
  • Have them use their senses to observe their surroundings and write specific, descriptive details to describe them under the appropriate clipping.
  • The students can use their web to write a story.

Alternatives/Extensions
