Glory Field Author Brochure

Students will research author Walter Dean Myers using online resources and then create an electronic brochure based on their findings.


  • To conduct an online research for specific information.
  • To determine the value and usefulness of the information gathered.
  • To use computer software to produce a brochure.
  • To organize information.


  • Students are introduced to the Appleworks brochure template and walked through the process. We discuss the appearance of a brochure and the types of information--both text and pictures-- it can contain. Some types of media, such as pictures, may be copywrite protected and cannot be used.
  • Students research the author Walter Dean Myers and gather information about him for the brochure. As they gather the information they should begin formulating their ideas of how their information should be organized.
  • Students create a rough brochure outline on paper so that they have a plan of how their final product will look. This step is hugely important!
  • Students begin work on their brochure.

  • Paper for brochure "storyboarding."
  • Computers with internet access.
  • Software such as Appleworks that contains a brochure template.
