Introduction to Wellness

Students will use a graphic organizer to learn about health and wellness.


  • Students will demonstrate a workable definition of health and wellness
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to read and organize text notes. Using Inspiration software.
  • Students will investigate the affects of various risk factors and cumulative risk factors vs. a life of wellness
  • Students will be able to describe the aspects of health in a written essay as it might relate to the Knights Code of Chivalry
  • Students will genrate an 11 _ x 8 computer poster demonstrating knowledge of the health triangle physically, mentally-emotionally, and socially utilizing pictures, words and sentences.


    Teacher Tasks:
  • Teacher introduces topic using an anticipation pre-reading strategy.
  • Model diagramming notes using inspiration through lesson.
  • Students continue on Lesson 2 and teacher observation.
  • Now show students writing expectation web and have them write a paragraph or 2 on a Knight that lives wellness. Incorporate the school code of chivalry and provide examples from notes they took in class.

    Student Tasks:
  • Journal - What do you think a teacher looks for in a writing assignment. Draw a graphic organizer to depict the parts of a good paper.
  • Prepare computers for Inspiration notes desktop file for health and Ch 1 & 2 folder.
  • Locate your textbook and a writing utensil
