sessions for educators. These sessions can be custom tailored to your
district's needs at no cost to the school district (Florida).

21st Century Learning
According to "Learning for the 21st Century" and the "Mile
Guide" teachers do not need to decide between teaching basic
skills and 21st century skills. Learn how to put the pieces of this
puzzle together to better prepare students for the future. This session
will show teachers how 21st Century Learning looks different from
traditional classroom experiences while teaching core knowledge,
contextual knowledge, 21st century tools and learning skills.
Adobe Photoshop 7
Are you interested in learning how to edit your digital pictures?
Learn the basics of image editing in this class that focuses on Photoshop's
most commonly used features. You will learn how to resize, crop,
edit, work with layers, use selection tools and techniques, recognize
and fix basic color correction and other image problems, add text
to an image, retouch an image, and combine images.
Adobe Premiere Pro
Adobe Premiere Pro is an all-in-one solution for professional digital
video editing, compositing, and special effects. This hands-on workshop
will take you through the basics of Adobe Premiere Pro. You will
learn how to log and capture footage, create and alter transitions,
apply filters, create titles, add audio, and finally output your
work to a CD-ROM or tape. Prerequisites: Familiarity with the Windows
operating system
AppleWorks
AppleWorks (formerly ClarisWorks) is a comprehensive set of software
tools for education. This workshop covers word processing, drawing,
painting, and slide shows. Learn how these applications work on their
own and in combination for both teaching and learning. Practical
classroom applications will be included. Prerequisites: None.
AppleWorks Advanced
Go beyond word processing and graphics with AppleWorks. This workshop
provides experience in the database and spreadsheet applications.
Create databases and spreadsheets for classroom organization and
for student lessons. Learn how these tools work in conjunction with
AppleWorks word processor and slide show. Prerequisites: Familiarity
with AppleWorks or ClarisWorks.
Assessment with Technology
Learn to use technology tools for assessing student learning in all
content areas and at all levels. Create and use rubrics, spreadsheets,
databases, and portfolios for evaluating standards-based learning.
Desktop Publishing
This hands-on workshop is an introduction to desktop publishing.
You will be introduced to the basic concepts of page layout, type,
and color, along with the knowledge you will need to turn your newsletter
or poster into a professional-looking printed piece. Topics will
include file formats, scanning and resolution, importing artwork,
basic design concepts, pre-press considerations, and working with
a commercial printer.
Digital Cameras and Scanners
Engage in hands-on instruction and share ideas and examples for selecting
and using a digital camera and scanner in the classroom. Learn the
steps of operating a digital camera and scanner, then capture, edit,
and save images with the computer. Topics include image formats for
applications and options for displaying images. Use our digital cameras
or bring your own!
Digital Filmmaking in the Classroom
iMovie and Movie Maker are easy-to-use video editing software programs
that give you everything you need to create desktop movies in the
classroom. Learn the basics of the filmmaking process, capturing
video, editing the clips with professional looking transitions, then
enhancing your video with special effects and finally publishing
your movies to the Web or CD-ROM.
Digital Portfolios and Assessment
The portfolio is a powerful tool for learning and assessment. Thedigital
portfolio increases the capability of a traditional portfolio by
adding opportunities for a variety of media, allowing hyperlinks,
and enabling continuous reflection on learning. In this workshop,
you will learn how to use a variety of applications to create digital
portfolios, integrate the portfolio process into your classroom and
create a rubric for portfolio assessment.
Enhancing Language Arts with Technology
This Workshop is an overview of the ways technology can enhance an
integrated, interdisciplinary language arts curriculum program. We’ll
look at a variety of teacher productivity tools, graphic organizers,
software and hardware that can make a language arts classroom fun.
We will also explore the Internet and visit some great sites for
both students and teachers.
Enhancing Math with Technology
Look at new ways to make math fun and exciting using 21st century
tools. Visit websites that both educate and entertain; teaching new
concepts and reinforcing math basics! Work with standard productivity
tools to create hands-on lessons for students at all levels.
Enhancing
Social Studies with Technology
Participants examine the wide variety of tools available to enhance
the social studies curriculum. We will explore software, hardware
and peripherals including concept mapping programs, geographical
mapping and GPS. Learn to create movies and slide shows that highlight
your curriculum. In addition we will visit websites that make social
studies fun and exciting for both students and teachers. eZedia QTI:
Multimedia for the Web
eZediaQTI is the next generation in multimedia authoring software
for the web. eZediaQTI uses drag-and-drop technology that lets you
create web sites, online presentations, interactive movies and Internet
banners quickly – with no HTML programming knowledge required!
Prerequisites: Familiarity with either Mac or Windows operating systems.
FCAT Explorer
Learn to use FCAT Explorer to assist your students with preparation
for the FCAT test. Teachers will learn to use the database reporting
feature to assess their student's progress and plan for remediation.
FileMaker Pro I
FileMaker Pro is a database program used to organize information.
This workshop will teach you how to create databases for classroom
organization and for student learning. Learn how a database can help
organize lesson plans, addresses, rosters, and grades. Make databases
for classroom activities such as classification, vocabulary, and
data. Set up a database and generate custom reports. Prerequisites:
Familiarity with either the Mac or Windows operating system
FileMaker Pro II
This workshop will take you beyond the basics of using FileMaker
Pro as a database. Learn how to link different databases so that
information can be shared between your existing databases. Learn
how to work with FileMaker on a network, establish password-protection,
and assign access privileges. Discover how to make your database
available for the Web. Prerequisites: Familiarity with FileMaker
Pro.
Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Pro is an all-in-one solution for professional digital
video editing, compositing, and special effects. This hands-on workshop
will take you through the basics of Final Cut Pro. You will learn
how to optimize your Mac for video, log and capture footage, create
and alter transitions, apply filters, create titles, add audio, and
finally output your work to a CD-ROM or tape. Prerequisites: Familiarity
with the Mac operating system.
iLife
Learn to use Apple's iLife tools to blend 21st Century Learning into
your classroom lessons. Learn the basics of iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie
and iDVD.
Inspiration/Kidspiration
Inspiration is a powerful visual learning tool, which helps students
develop ideas and organize their thinking. Learn how to use Inspiration
with your students to clarify thinking, reinforce understanding,
integrate new knowledge, and identify misconceptions. Inspiration
is appropriate for all student subject areas as well as teacher preparation.
The workshop will also introduce Kidspiration, a special version
of Inspiration for the K-3 student. Prerequisites: None
Internet: Ideas, Activities and Resources
The Internet contains a vast amount of useful educational resources,
but all too often teachers don't know how to access them. Come and
learn basic tips for searching and navigating the Web. Get a jump
on locating multimedia and educational resources appropriate for
students. Important issues such as Internet safety and "netiquette" will
also be addressed. The workshop will be structured around meeting
the National Educational Technology Standards for Students. Prerequisites:
None.
Keynote
With Keynote, anyone can create stunning slides that look like they
were produced by a professional design team. This hands-on workshop
will teach you the steps to creating engaging, unique, high-quality
presentations that are sure to keep your audience’s attention.

Macromedia Dreamweaver, Level I
Learn to build great-looking sites in record time with Dreamweaver.
This HTML editor simplifies the process of creating Web pages by
giving you complete control over the code. Dreamweaver's visual layout
tools allow you to design a page and then tweak the source code with
Dreamweaver's "roundtrip HTML" feature. Dreamweaver makes
it easy to add existing Fireworks and Flash graphics to a page. Prerequisites:
Familiarity with either the Mac or Windows operating system
Macromedia Dreamweaver, Level II
Now that you have experienced Dreamweaver, it is time to take your
skills a step further. Learn how to enhance your Web page with easy
templates, rollovers, layers and tables. Increase your productivity
by creating and modifying existing Dreamweaver templates. Prerequisites:
Familiarity with Macromedia Dreamweaver.
Macromedia Fireworks
Create, edit, and animate Web graphics using a complete set of bitmap
and vector tools. Use export controls to optimize your images, give
them advanced interactivity, and export them into Macromedia Dreamweaver
and other HTML editors. Prerequisites: Familiarity with either the
Mac or Windows operating system.
Macromedia Flash for the Classroom
Macromedia Flash allows you to engage your students in rich media
content to produce narrative animations and build interactive movies.
This workshop will focus on the basics of Flash to create simple
animations and interactive movies that can be integrated into the
classroom curriculum. Prerequisites: Familiarity with either the
Mac or Windows operating system.
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Excel gives you and your students the
opportunity to develop and strengthen skills as you gather data,
create worksheets, analyze and chart the results, and integrate your
findings into reports and assignments.
Microsoft Office
Microsoft Office gives you a suite of productivity programs for completing
everyday tasks at home or at school. Microsoft Word is a powerful,
word processing program that is easy to use. Microsoft Excel is a
spreadsheet program full of features that will help you analyze,
calculate and evaluate data, and PowerPoint is a powerful presentation
graphics program that will help you create attention-grabbing presentations.
You will learn how to integrate these readily available programs
into your daily routine.
Microsoft PowerPoint
With Microsoft PowerPoint, you and your students can make learning
more dynamic by creating presentations from classroom materials and
projects. You can use graphics, text, movies, sounds, and the Internet
to share information on any topic.
Microsoft Word
Clear and organized writing is one of the most important skills for
success in today's world. Microsoft Word can help students develop
those skills as well as help you with your own writing needs. Word
provides an easy way to create handouts, worksheets, student papers,
and other printed documents, and also makes it easy to save your
documents to the Web or send them through e-mail.

Technology in the Science Classroom
Come to this hands-on workshop to learn practical classroom strategies
for teaching science with web resources, as well as an introduction
to data collection tools for use with computers in your classes.
We’ll discuss new ideas for all levels and topics in science.
Technology Integration in the Elementary Classroom
During this workshop, we will look at successful lessons and discuss
how to make the NETS (National Education Technology Standards)
work for you. We will focus on practical, real world strategies
for meaningful
technology integration in the elementary classroom.
