Students were assigned groups and then they chose the European country that they wanted to do a newscast on.
Students were given laptops to research their country on-line. Students had to research three topics (weather, current events, on this day in History) and their three chosen topics (Sports, Cultural Holidays/Festivals, Entertainment etc.).
Students gathered all of their research and then prepared written news scripts including speaking roles for every group member.
We reviewed basic camera work (angles, lighting) with the class. They had learned this in their technology classes.
When the scripts were finalized, we filmed and produced the newscast in front of a classroom audience.
After the filming we viewed and critiqued the groups overall performance as a class.
