“A small kidney shaped, pendulous bag of the size of a hen’s egg, situated below the abdomen and peculiar to the male. It is brown and unctuous, and may be pressed out through two apertures. It is the strongest and most pungent of perfumes; the mere skin of the animal is sufficient to fill the place where it has been kept with a strong odor for a long time.In medicine it is used as an antispammodic. “ — S.
