Creating an Animated Film
Students will develop an understanding of the animation process by working collaboratively to create an animated film.
Objectives
- To create the illusion of movement in an animated film.
- To learn the stop-motion process in animation.
- To work collaboratively as a group to successfully complete all phases of an animated film.
- To develop an understanding of the animationprocess and the various jobs that are necessary to create an animated film.
Procedure
- Divide into groups - decide on a name and logo for the animation "company".
- Brainstorm and decide on a theme for the animation.
- Write story/script.
- Create Storyboard.
- Gather Characters/objects that suit the story.
- Create backgrounds (within boxes).
- Practice animating the story.
- Film action, frame-by-frame with the digital camera (follow storyboard).
- Import the images into iPhoto.
- Enhance/crop images within iPhoto.
- Move photos into iMovie and begin sequencing.
- Edit movie, add sound, voices, transitions, special effects, credits, titles.
- Export completed movie into iDVD.
- Self/peer assessment.
