Students create free student e-mail accounts through Gaggle.net

Objectives

  • Use writing processes effectively to construct an e-mail
  • Access specific websites to send and receive e-mail
  • Access specific websites to research authors and authors' works

Procedure

  • Students are guided through the process of creating a free student e-mail account through Gaggle.net, https://gaggle.net/gen?_template=/templates/gaggle/html/index.jsp.
  • Once their accounts are created they are taught how to log on and use their e-mail accounts.
  • Also, students are being taught letter writing skills and the use of the writing process to construct e-mails to send to peers, teachers, and pen pals that may be made through other courses.
  • For one particular assignment, students are to research authors using their websites found on https://teachingbooks.net/.
  • Students are encouraged to correspond with authors via e-mail to discuss specific works.
