Students will use technology to track a character's journey.
Students will use the World Book Atlas program on the laptop computers to track the characters journey from the story, The Armadillo from Amarillo in our Reading Basal.
Students will recognize the distance in miles traveled throughout the story.
Students will identify placement of cities on the map traveled.
Students will record direction he traveled using the compass rose.
Students will create a slideshow with the information titled Armadillos
Adventure
using PowerPoint program.
Students will choose one of the cities traveled and research facts about it on the Internet to incorporate in the slideshow.
Students will present their slideshow to the class using the projector.

Together we will look through the story, The Armadillo from Amarillo, and find the sequence of cities he visited in Texas on his journey.
Using the Promethean Board, we will make a list of these places.
Next, the students will use the World Book Atlas to track the miles that he traveled from Amarillo to each location.
On a paper map of the state of Texas, they will highlight each city to view direction he traveled using the compass rose.
After all the cities have been mapped, they will use the program PowerPoint
to create a slideshow of Armadillos journey.
Once they have documented the mileage traveled, they will research each city for a few facts to include on slides.
