Description: Quaking Grass (Briza media) has an erect panicle with very slender spreading branches. The spikelets (magnified here) are large and purplish, from five to nine flowered. The inner glume is finely fringed and entired at the end. The grass is very light and slender and flowers in June and July. It grows about a foot high and is perennial.
