First Church of Christ

First Church of Christ

Oil on canvas, Old State House, Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1712, the church was located across the street from the Old State House. In 1807, the congregation moved to a new location and the First Church of Christ was demolished in 1808. Painted by an unknown artist, the work is based on an 1813 engraving.
