Shot Furnace at Castillo de San Marcos

This photograph shows the shot furnace at Castillo de San Marcos. The shot furnace is located between the northeast and southeast corners of the fort and was built and used by United States forces to heat cannonballs to high temperatures before they were fired into enemy ships.
