An intestinal villus. They are little projections of the mucous membrane, covered with epithelium, and containing blood-vessels and lacteals, and are arranged for absorbing nutrients in the intestines. Labels: a, a, a, columnar epithelium; b, b, capillary network; c, c, lymphoid tissue and longitudinal muscles fibers; d, lacteal vessel.
