Helical Gearing

Helical gearing is a modification of ordinary toothed gearing in which the pitch surfaces may be cylinders or cones (as in spur or bevel gearing); but the teeth intersect the pitch surfaces in helical lines. These wheels work much more smoothly and provide more resilience than ordinary gearing.
