Cefalù cathedral, south wall of choir, Sts. Basil, John Chrysostom and Gregory of Nazienzus
On the south wall of the choir at Cefalù, the two lowest registers of mosaics depict saints of the Eastern church. Bishops stand in the lower register and warrior saints are in the register above. The bishops include St. Nicholas (not shown here) and three doctors of the Eastern church, Sts. Basil, John Chrysostom and Gregory of Nazienzus. The mosaics of the presbytery were likely completed in the 1160s after the death of King Roger II (1154).
