Santiago cathedral, Pórtico da Gloria, archivolts of south doorway, Christ, St. Michael and the punishments of hell
In the Pórtico da Gloria, the arch of the right or south doorway presents the consequences of the Last Judgment. The busts in the keystones have been identified as Christ the Judge and St. Michael, the archangel. To the left, angels hold the souls of the blessed; to the right, demons carry off the souls of the damned and torment them.
