This image shows a wooden rack that holds tools for use in firing the cannons, at Fort Matanzas. The three-pronged implement is a linstock, around which was wrapped a rope that had been soaked in saltpeter. The rope that was wrapped around the linstock burned slowly, and was used to ignite the gunpowder, through the touch-hole, in a loaded cannon.Galleries:Cannon, Fort Matanzas, St. JohnsKeywords:cannon tools, fort matanzas, linstock, saint augustine, st augustine, wooden rackPhoto Location: St. Augustine, FloridaPhotographer: Nathan WolkenhauerDate of Photo: 11/07/2011Device Make: CanonDevice Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark IIOriginal Dimensions: 5616×3744Picture Orientation: LandscapeGPS Coordinates: 29°42'58.92"N 81°14'02.61"WPicture Number: 15075
