A Sliding Metal Bolt

A Sliding Metal Bolt

This appears to be some type of sliding latch that was used to keep a door secured. There are metal bands superimposed on wood planks, and a metal rod spans two of the metal bands. The fort is a National Monument, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
