Barbette Arcs near the Seawall of Castillo de San Marcos

Barbette Arcs near the Seawall of Castillo de San Marcos

There are overlapping barbette arcs in this part of the water battery. The barbette arcs are stones arrayed in a semicircular pattern. The arcs provided a stable surface for rotating cannons. The fort is a National Monument, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
