East and West Casement Section Drawings of Castillo de San Marcos, 1987

The cross section drawing of the east casement shows the dry moat, San Agustin bastion and garita, shot furnace, interior ramp, sally port, and well. The west casement drawing includes the San Pedro bastion and garita, moat, and covered way.

The Castillo de San Marcos was renamed Fort Marion after the United States acquired Florida from Spain in 1821. In 1942, Congress restored the original name.
