Kori Bustard

Kori Bustard

A Kori bustard (Ardeotis kori) looking up. In its native Africa, the bird is known as "Gompou", the "gum-eating bird" for its habit of snacking on the gum-like sap of acacia trees. The sap is high in protein, and occasionally fortified with beetles, flies, or other insects caught in the goo.
