The North Wall of Fort Matanzas with Dock in the Foreground
This is the north wall of Fort Matanzas, with the boat dock in the foreground. The fort is 50 feet on each side with a 30-foot watchtower, was built of local shellstone called coquina. Lime for the mortar was made by burning oyster shells.
