The Romans Build Fortifications, Receive Dacian Ambassadors, and Assault Strongholds
The lower spiral, in this image, shows panels forty-nine, fifty, and the beginning of fifty-one. In panel forty-nine, the legion stops to build a fortification. In panel fifty, Trajan receives a local Dacian chief. In the beginning of panel fifty-one, the Romans built log ramparts, to provide a stronghold during a battle in a forest.
The upper spiral, in this image, shows panels fifty-three, and fifty-four. In panel fifty-three, the Roman form a shield wall, and attack a Dacian fortification. In panel fifty-four, Trajan follows Decebal into the mountains, feeling that he is assured of victory.
