Trajan Arrives on the Left Bank of the Danube
The lower part of this image shows the end of the third panel, and the beginning of the fourth. At the end of the third panel, Trajan and his chief lieutenants are sitting on curule seats, as the standard-bearing troops go by, on horseback. The seats are on a raised dais that has been hastily constructed, from turf blocks. At the beginning of the fourth panel, a camp has been constructed. The camp has outer defenses that have been constructed from turf blocks. Trajan offers a sacrifice, on an altar.
The upper part of this image shows the end of the eighth panel, the ninth panel, and the beginning of the tenth panel. At the end of the eighth panel, three scouts are shown crossing a bridge. In the ninth panel, there are men cutting down trees. In the beginning of the tenth panel, the men are building a strong fortification.
