This image shows the cannons and carronades on the gun deck, and the spar deck of the USS Constitution. The cannons, and the carronades, have tampions in their barrels. The smaller, 32-pound, carronades are on the spar deck (i.e., the upper deck); and, the larger, 24-pound, long guns are on the gun deck (i.e., the lower deck). The carronades used a heavier cannonball, but had a shorter range.Galleries:Pulleys, Ships, USS Constitution MuseumKeywords:america's ship of state, boston, cannon, carronade, massachusetts, sailing ship, spar deck, tampion, uss constitution, uss constitution museumPhoto Location: USS Constitution Museum, Boston, MassachusettsPhotographer: Dr. Roy WinkelmanDate of Photo: 05/28/2011Device Make: CanonDevice Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark IIOriginal Dimensions: 5616×3744Picture Orientation: LandscapeGPS Coordinates: 42°22'20.73"N 71°03'23.54"WPicture Number: 15226
