View of the Castillo de San Marcos from the Ravelin

View of the Castillo de San Marcos from the Ravelin

This view of the entrance to San Marcos is from the ravelin. Since the entrance is the weakest part of a fort, the ravelin was built to protect it from direct fire. Cannons point out through embrasures at the top of the walls. To the left is the San Pedro bastion and to the right is the San Agustin bastion. The Cross of Burgundy flag, used by the Spanish military, flies over the fort.
