Wattle and Daub Construction at the Schumacher House
The earliest of the three rooms at the Schumacher House used wattle and daub construction. Here the finish plaster has been cut away to show the underlying materials. The wattle was woven from thin willow branches from a nearby creek. Next, a mixture of red clay and grass was applied onto the woven willow frame and allowed to dry.Galleries:San Antonio Botanical Garden, Wattle and DaubKeywords:hill country home, san antonio, san antonio botanical garden, schumacher house, texas, wattle and daubPhoto Location: San Antonio Botanical Garden, San Antonio, TexasPhotographer: Dr. Roy WinkelmanDate of Photo: 02/14/2014Device Make: CanonDevice Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark IIExposure Time: 0.05F Number: 6.3Original Dimensions: 5616×3744Picture Orientation: LandscapeGPS Coordinates: 29° 27′ 32.04″ N 98° 27′ 25.56″ WPicture Number: 26566
