Panoramic View of Picacho Peak with Sunset in Picacho, Arizona

The distinct shape of Picacho Peak has been used as a navigational waypoint by travelers since prehistoric times. The law deeming the area around Picacho peak as an Arizona State Park passed in 1965; in 1968 Picacho Peak State Park opened to the public. In this panorama, one can see numerous cacti, the arid terrain, distant mountains, a vividly colored sunrise, and the unique shape of Picacho Peak.
