Interior of Council House at Mission San Luis in Tallahassee

Mission San Luis was a seventeenth-century Franciscan mission built by the Spanish in present-day Tallahassee. This panorama shows the inside of the reconstructed council house. The large structure could hold two to three thousand people. From here, Apalachee chiefs ruled, administered justice, and conducted rituals.
