Sunset on the Bastion at Castillo de San Cristóbal
A sweeping panoramic view of the bastion of Castillo de San Cristóbal at San Juan National Historic Site. The fortress was built over the course of 150 years to protect El Morro and the city of San Juan from land attack. Here one can see the ruddy sunlight shining on the embrasures of the fortress. Bastions were large protrusions from the main walls used as platforms for firing on invaders.
