Anza Expedition Relief Mural at Newman Park

This sculpted mural and an adjacent 20-foot statue of Juan Bautista de Anza in Newman Park, Riverside, CA, commemorate the two expeditions that passed through the area. Anza passed thru the region in 1774, and, again, in 1775-1776 while seeking an overland route from Sonora, Mexico to the San Francisco Bay.
