Luxury Hotel

Use grid paper to design a bird's eye view of a luxury hotel in Appleworks.

Objectives

  • Students will understand that fractions are parts of a whole by designing a whole piece of property.
  • Students will understand concrete and symbolic representations of fractions in real-world situations by designing a piece of property using specific fractions.
  • Students will solve a real world problem involving perimeter and area after they decide what they want to be on their property.
  • Students will follow written directions to complete the assignment.

Procedure

  • Within an olympic thematic unit have the students design a luxury hotel so the most important visitors have a place to stay.
  • Provide the students the template and review all the guidelines to designing the property.
