US Map

Identify states using cardinal directions and known landmarks using Mapmaker Toolkit.

Objectives

  • Students will use a simple map to identify and locate places by finding states on a map with clues given by the teacher.
  • Students will know areas that can be classified as regions by locating states on a map after being given region name and cardinal direction clues.

Procedure

  • Color in states on the computer after the teacher gives directions
  • Teacher will give directions using cardinal directions, region names, and previously taught states and landmarks

  • Have students create their own directions and work in partners to see if they can stump each other.
