Liberty Scavenger Hunt

Students will use the internet to learn about the events leading up to the American Revolution.

Objectives

  • Learn essential facts about the events leading up to the American Revolution.
  • Learn how to maneuver within a website and know where to look for and find specific information online.
  • Refine your skills using wireless laptop technology.
  • Review for the test on Pre-Revolutionary America.

Procedure

  • Today you are going on a "cyber" scavenger hunt to search for information about the American Revolution. You will use the following website to find the information: https://www.pbs.org/ktca/liberty/index.html. Explore the site and decide with your group the best place to look for each answer.
  • Work with your group members to complete the "cyber" scavenger hunt.
  • All of the information must come from the PBS Liberty online website listed on your answer sheet.
  • Make sure that when you find an answer, the entire group knows WHERE you found it.
  • After you have the answers to #s 1-9, check your answers before going on to the final task. Choose one person in your group to verify the answers with the judge (the teacher).
  • EVERY PERSON in your group must have all the correct answers, AND know where to find them.

  • Laptop Cart or access to multiple laptops with internet access
  • Powerpoint presentation giving directions regarding the lesson, as well as hints for using laptops (optional)
  • Cyber Scavenger Hunt Questions

Alternatives/Extensions

  • Students create their own scavenger hunt questions for other students using the Liberty website.
