This is a rotary pump that was used to extract wine from the casks in the wine cellar. A hose was attached to the metal pipe, and another was attached to the underside of the pump mechanism. When the wheel was turned, it created enough suction to draw the wine out of the casks. Economy was the third settlement started by the Harmonist Society, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Properties. The site is located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
