This is a spinning wheel, used to spin fibers into yarn or thread. This picture shows the fibers wrapped around a swing arm, and the thread is wrapped around a dark colored spindle. This is a single drive spinning wheel. Economy was the third settlement started by the Harmonist Society, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Properties. The site is located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
